Floating Support

What Is Floating Support?

MACS Floating Support offers two key services:

  • Housing Support which is funded by the Housing Executives Supporting People programme
  • Suicide Prevention which is funded by the Down and Lisburn Investing for Health programme.

Referral Criteria

  • Vulnerable or at risk young people aged 16-25 years old
  • Young people in need of support to maintain and or access accommodation.

And/Or

  • At risk of self harm /suicide

Support Can Be Offered On

  • Managing tenancies – Managing money / benefit advice
  • Social networks and relationships – Substance use
  • Physical health – Emotional and mental health
  • Meaningful use of time – Offending
  • Motivation and taking responsibility – Parenting
  • Self care and living skills – Training and employment

It’s called Floating Support because we float the service out to you. Our service covers a Greater Belfast, Colin Glen, Lisburn, Downpatrick, Ardglass, Killyleagh, Saintfield, Crossgar, Castlewellan, Newcastle, Ballynahinch, Dundrum, Drumaness, and the surrounding area’s. If you are unsure if we can cover the area you live give us a call to find out.

Your individual support plan would be regularly reviewed to make sure we were still helpful to you, and we can work with you for up to two years.

Make a Referral

We have teams of Floating Support workers based in Belfast, Downpatrick and Colinglen. Young people can refer themselves to the service or can be referred by other agencies. To make a referral you can download the form below or call the office for an information pack to be posted out.
