Dare to Dream

MACS mentoring provides vulnerable young people (age 16 – 25 years old) with a voluntary one – to – one relationship with a volunteer who focuses exclusively on their needs, offers honest and positive support, and not only recognises their everyday needs but also values their dreams and aspirations. Mentors meet with their mentees on a weekly basis for a period of up to a year to offer support, encouragement, and an opportunity to widen their social networks, try new things and have fun!!!

Who Can Be Referred To the Mentoring Service?

Any young person who is 16 – 25 years old living within the eastern board area and who is care – experienced, had social services involvement, identifies themselves as vulnerable or at risk of suicide or self harm.

Quote from a MACS Mentee

“When we meet up and did things together it stopped me sitting in and melting my head. It made a difference to me and now I know if I start getting stressed that going for a walk or to the gym helps me. It has made a difference in how I look after myself and deal with things”

Ending statement from a MACS Mentee

“I just want to say a big thank you for being my Mentor, which turned into a special friendship. You have cheered me up when I’ve been down. It was like two in one because our minds think alike. I’ve really enjoyed the cinema, but most of all the chats over tea and loads of food. We had many laughs in everything we did. You made one of my dreams come true, bringing me to my first concert and my favourite band UB40!!! Thanks again for being my friend in MACS Mentoring Service”
