Belfast, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newry Supported Housing Services (Move in to Move On) provides supported housing for young people who are homeless or leaving care to make the transition to interdependent living and their own tenancy.
Lisburn and Downpatrick Services include short term (up to 10 days) ‘Assessment’ accommodation for 16/17 year olds presenting as homeless. The Service delivers high quality support to young people aged (16 – 21) to build the skills and confidence to maintain their own homes. Young people live with us for up to 2 years before moving on to their own tenancy in the community.
We are looking for Sessional Staff to work Occasional Hours in the service.
Holidays: Leave is pro rata from Full Time employment (30days) and will be determined by total hours worked on a daily basis
In order to be offered a position, candidates successful at interview stage will be required to attend a mandatory induction training day on Saturday 27th April 2019.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Criteria 1
- 6 months experience of working with young people aged 16-21
Criteria 2
- Understanding of young people who have been homeless, have left care or have high support needs
Criteria 3
- Ability to manage conflict and aggression
- Ability to work with young people who abuse substances
- Ability to support young people to set up and run a home
Criteria 4
- Can use feedback to develop practice
- To be resilient and compassionate in a challenging environment
Typical Working Pattern (subject to change)
Belfast
- Waking Shift: 5pm – 5am
- Sleep in Shift: 8pm – 8am
- Daytime cover including weekends and bank holidays
Downpatrick
- Waking Shift: 6pm – 6am
- Sleep in Shift: 8.30pm – 8.30am
- Daytime cover including weekends and bank holidays
Newry
- Waking Shift: 5pm – 5am
- Sleep in Shift: 9pm – 9am
- Daytime cover including weekends and bank holidays
Lisburn
- Waking Shift: 5pm – 5am
- Sleep in Shift: 8.30pm – 8.30am
- Daytime cover including weekends and bank holidays
