MACS Wellbeing Support Service provides mental health support and mentoring to children and young people aged 11-25 who experience low mood, suicidal ideation and self-harm to build resilience, increasing coping strategies and develop support networks.

Children and young people will receive individualized support based on a coaching model through support planning, regular reviews and keeping safe planning where appropriate. Support is also provided through use of volunteer mentors and group work.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Criteria 1

  • Degree in Social Work, Youth and Community Work or equivalent
  • 3 years’ experience of working with Children and Young people aged 11-25 who have experienced mental ill health issues
  • 2 years’ experience of leading and managing staff
  • 2 years’ experience of developing and managing a service

OR

  • 5 years’ experience of working with Children and Young people aged 11-25 who have experienced mental ill health issues
  • 2 years’ experience of leading and managing staff
  • 2 years’ experience of developing and managing a service

Criteria 2

  • Ability to work on your own initiative and make decisions (autonomously) in a responsible and accountable manner.

Criteria 3

  • Ability to lead and develop a team.

Criteria 4

  • Experience of liaising with statutory agencies in order to meet the needs of the children and young people

Criteria 5

  • Able to demonstrate excellent written skills.

Criteria 6

  • A full current driving licence and access to a car is required so as to be able to meet the requirements of the post in full. This criteria may be waived, if a disability prohibits driving. However, you must demonstrate how you would meet the mobility requirements of this post.
