Mental health doesn’t always look like what you see online.

Sometimes it’s a young man who hasn’t slept in days, trying to act like he’s fine.
Sometimes it’s someone bouncing between sofas, pretending they’ve got it sorted. Sometimes it’s just silence.

At MACS, we support young people who are navigating more than just their mental health. They’re facing pressure from all angles,  housing, money, relationships, trauma, and for many young men, opening up still feels like the hardest part.

That’s why this Men’s Health Week, we’re not just raising awareness.
We’re talking about what support looks like, and how taking care of your mental health doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to start somewhere.

Too many keep quiet, even when they’re barely holding it together. Somewhere along the way, they may have been told:

Don’t cry. Don’t talk. Deal with it.

At MACS, we meet young men every day who’ve been carrying too much on their own.

The reality?

Men are three times more likely to die by suicide than women.
They’re less likely to ask for help, but here’s the truth: It’s not weak to speak. It’s brave, it’s strong and it’s necessary.

What does looking after yourself actually mean?

This Men’s Health Week, we’re cutting through the noise with no buzzwords
Just six small ways to look after your mental health:

  • Emotional – Talk. Rant. Cry. Let out.
  • Physical – Sleep, eat, move.
  • Financial – Stressed about money? You’re not alone. Get support.
  • Professional – Don’t know your next step? That’s ok. Start where you are.
  • Spiritual – Nature, music, prayer, space to breathe,  whatever grounds you.
  • Social – You don’t need a crowd, just someone who listens without judgment.

You don’t have to do it all at once. Just pick one thing and give it a go, that’s progress. Whether you’re struggling with your mental health or simply need someone to listen, we’ve got your back. You don’t have to be at rock bottom, and you don’t need to have the right words. All you have to do is show up, and we’ll walk beside you.

You matter. You’re not alone. And things can get better.
