MACS charity partner Grand Opera House lends a hand
Our charity partners at the Grand Opera House recently rolled up their sleeves to spend the day volunteering with MACS.
The team helped give our Supported Housing spaces a much-needed spruce-up, getting stuck into practical jobs and helping make the area brighter and more welcoming for the young people who call it home.
MACS Supported Housing provides safe accommodation and support for young people aged 16–21 who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. Alongside having a safe place to live, young people are supported to build the skills and confidence they need to live independently and move towards a more stable future.
Claire Forker, acting head of service at MACS said:
“The team from the Grand Opera House did a fantastic job and we’re so appreciative of the time and effort they gave us. The place is looking brilliant and it’s amazing what a difference a bit of a spruce-up can make. It was lovely to have them with us for the day and the young people and staff were delighted with the results.”
The volunteering day is just one part of the Grand Opera House’s ongoing support for MACS.
As one of our charity partners, the Grand Opera House has supported MACS through fundraising, with members of the team taking part in the Belfast City Marathon, as well as providing tickets for young people supported by MACS to enjoy the theatre’s annual pantomime.
Their continued support helps us create positive experiences for young people while also raising vital funds and awareness for our work to help end youth homelessness in Northern Ireland.
Ian Wilson, Chief Executive of the Grand Opera House, said:
“The Grand Opera House is proud to support our charity partner MACS and the vital work they do across Northern Ireland to help end youth homelessness. The opportunity for colleagues to work alongside the MACS team and contribute directly to the community through volunteering activities was a rewarding and inspiring experience for all involved. We look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting MACS in the important work they do.”
A huge thank you to everyone from the Grand Opera House for giving their time, energy and continued support to MACS.
We are always keen to hear from businesses and organisations interested in supporting MACS through volunteering, fundraising or partnership opportunities.
