At MACS, we are proud to deliver Upstream across Northern Ireland as part of Upstream UK, a four-nation partnership with Llamau, Centrepoint and Rock Trust.

Upstream is transforming how we respond to youth homelessness by focusing on prevention rather than crisis. Working alongside schools, families and local partners, we identify young people who may be at risk of homelessness and provide support before challenges escalate.

The programme uses evidence-based screening to identify hidden risks and unmet needs. Young people and their families can then access tailored support, including family mediation, emotional wellbeing support and connections to local services. By strengthening relationships, improving resilience and addressing issues early, we can help prevent homelessness before it starts.

For MACS, Upstream builds on our long-standing commitment to early intervention and keeping young people safely connected to their families, communities and education wherever possible. It represents a shift from reacting to homelessness to preventing it, ensuring more young people have the opportunity to build brighter futures without experiencing homelessness.

As part of the wider Upstream UK partnership, we are also contributing to a growing evidence base that is helping shape the future of youth homelessness prevention across the UK.
