Supporting Young People Through Equine Therapy

At MACS, we know that every young person’s journey is different. Alongside practical and emotional support, meaningful experiences can play an important role in helping young people build confidence, develop new skills and improve their wellbeing.
Thanks to the generosity of Ormeau Credit Union, more of the young people we work alongside will have the opportunity to take part in equine therapy.
This funding will enable us to continue delivering therapeutic experiences that help young people connect with others, build confidence and develop resilience in a calm and supportive environment.
What is equine therapy?
Equine therapy is a therapeutic approach that involves structured activities with horses or donkeys, guided by trained professionals.
Whether grooming, leading or simply spending time alongside the animals, young people are encouraged to develop trust, communication and emotional awareness through shared experiences.
At MACS, we have previously partnered with Learning in Harmony and Donkeys, and we have seen first-hand the positive impact these sessions can have.
Why can equine therapy help?
While every young person’s experience is different, equine therapy can help to:
- Build confidence and self-esteem.
- Develop trust and healthy relationships.
- Support emotional awareness and regulation.
- Encourage communication and teamwork.
- Promote calm, mindfulness and wellbeing.
- Develop resilience through new experiences.
A partnership making a difference
The funding from Ormeau Credit Union will allow more young people to benefit from these experiences over the coming months.
We are also delighted to continue working alongside Learning in Harmony and Donkeys, whose expertise creates safe, supportive experiences where young people can learn, grow and thrive.
A huge thank you to Ormeau Credit Union for investing in the young people we support.
Your generosity is helping create opportunities that build confidence, strengthen wellbeing and give young people the chance to experience something truly meaningful.
We look forward to sharing updates as the programme gets underway.
