MACS Irish League Soccer Sixes was a terrific event and the first of what we hope will be an annual fundraiser for our charity.

Over 90 current and former professional footballers took to the field on Sunday 7 August to play in aid of local children and young people who use our services.

We’re really grateful to Solitude Football Club – Cliftonville Chairman Gerard Lawlor and all his staff – for their enormous support. It wouldn’t have been possible to hold such a successful fundraiser without their help.

We were delighted and heartened with the commitment of the Irish League Legends and all the players who participated in the tournament. They also took time out of their busy schedules to come along to photoshoots before the event and made a substantial donation following the event. These guys were terrific and made our young people, who played along side them, feel really welcome and included.

We are indebted to the local sponsors of each team

  • Diva’s Hair Salon – Cliftonville Legends
  • M Sisk Joinery – Coleraine Legends
  • Go Outdoors – Crusaders Legends
  • Manny’s and Sylvester’s Kitchen – Donegal Celtic Legends
  • Bytes Project – Glenavon Legends
  • Decathlon – Glentoran Legends
  • M&P Installations – Linfield Legends
  • Richmond Marketing – Lisburn Legends
  • Repair Lounge – NI Select Legends

And to those companies who sponsored our Official Match Programme:

  • Argyle Cryospa;
  • Pizza Works and
  • The Throne Cafe & Bakery

AMMG Media photographer Chris Scott was on hand capturing the big day. Many thanks to Chris for his time and professionalism and fantastic photos!

This event was the brainchild of MACS worker Kieran O’Connor who recently joined the Belfast Supported Housing Team. Kieran brought with him a wealth of experience and contacts from the Football world. He worked tirelessly getting this event off the ground.

Scott Irwin, MACS Wellbeing Worker is a seasoned hand at charity football tournaments and used his skills to put together the fixtures listings.

Claire Sweeny added to her many talents by designing the programme and Belfast Housing Staff were on hand to offer support and assistance. I can safely say it was a brilliant team effort!

We raised a fantastic £1,600 to date!
