This year, volunteers in Led By You and MACS Muddy Paws gave over 1,700 hours to our Participation Service.
This is one outstanding achievement and we couldn’t be prouder of every single individual who helps us deliver our services. It’s clear that our volunteers get so much out of the time they give to us and neither service could or would run without their invaluable contribution. Big shout out to you guys – you inspire us every single day!
I joined MACS because I was going through a difficult time in my life where I was scared to ask for help. I thought being strong meant dealing with everything by myself but when I did find the courage to reach out it was the best decision I ever made. After MACS helped me get my life back on track, I got the chance to become a Young Leader and help other people in MACS!
I love being a young leader because I hope to help any young people going through a hard time in their lives as MACS did for me. Being a Young Leader has given me the confidence to shout loud and clear for young people to have a say on issues and subjects, which impact them. I truly believe volunteering at MACS is the best thing I have done because you can change people’s life for the better and show them that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I would highly recommend you to apply for volunteering at MACS’ Led By You and if you need support to reach out to MACS to get it as it is a remarkable organisation. It is the best decision I have made.

Being a young leader has helped me develop skills in a whole cross section of areas, such as planning, social skills, working as part of a team and in helping to build my self confidence and sense of worth. As someone who has received so many opportunities and so much support from MACS, becoming a young leader has allowed me to give back to the community and contribute, in some small way, to other young people.

I love LBY because it shows that young people have a strong voice and are truly at the heart of MACS. Not many charities have a shadow board comprised entirely of young people, so I think that LBY makes MACS unique. Being a volunteer has allowed me to work alongside some amazing young people and workers to create opportunities for young people and to influence policy within MACS. I truly enjoy volunteering with MACS because of the wonderful people (and dogs ?) and hope to continue doing so for a long time.

I love Led by You because it gives young people a voice on how they want services to run. MACS puts young people at the heart of everything they do to make their services the best they possibly can be. Being on the shadow board allows me to be a voice for other young people and to help to make a difference. I love being involved as a young leader at MACS because it has given me so many opportunities that I would not have got anywhere else. MACS has saved my life and then helped me to improve it and build the skills I need to succeed. I owe everything to MACS and can’t wait to see what the next year brings.
